Banner: Radionuclide Therapy

History

These symposia originated with the Oak Ridge symposia on Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry that were held every two to four years. The last two symposia were held in Europe in conjunction with the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) meetings in Helsinki in 2004, and in Athens in 2006. Prior to the European meetings, these meetings were independently convened and organized by the Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry Center at Oak Ridge Associated Universities. A feature of these symposia, as reflected in the diverse composition of the current organizing committee, is their international participation.

Previous alpha-emitter workshops were held in Karlsruhe in 1995 (organized by the Institute of Transuranium Elements, and in Denver in 1996 (organized by the U.S. Department of Energy). Subsequently a series of international symposia on alpha emitters were continued by the Institute of Transuranium Elements, including meetings in Karlsruhe (1997, 2000), Heidelberg (2002), Düsseldorf (2004) and Aachen (2007). The symposium in Toronto will be the 6th in this series.

Organizers

The MIRD Committee has planned the 3rd International Symposium for a North American venue, in conjunction with the SNM annual meeting in Toronto, June 13-17, 2009. The MIRD Committee is working with the EANM Dosimetry Committee and with other organizers having particular interest in alpha-emitter therapy of cancer.
